The 生物学 Program at 基督教社会联盟 Dominguez Hills is designed to provide students with intensive progressive and balanced learning experiences in cell and molecular biology, 生物的生物学, population and community biology, and environmental science.
The 生物学 Department offers students seven 项目 from which to choose: 1) An undergraduate program which awards the Bachelors of Arts Degree; 2) Three undergraduate major options that award the Bachelor of Science Degree: a Cellular and Molecular 生物学 Option, and Ecology and Environmental 生物学 Option and a Microbiology Option; 3) Two minor 项目: a General Minor and a Microbiology Minor; 4) A Biological Science Subject Matter Preparation Program fro students pursuing a secondary teaching credential; 5) A Graduate Program which awards the Master of Science Degree.

A student in the 生物学 Department will be prepared to pursue a variety of career opportunities, depending on the curricular program chosen. An undergraduate major may choose any of the options. The Cellular and Molecular 生物学 Option can fulfill the major entrance requirements for professional schools of medicine, 牙科, 兽医, 药店, 验光, 足部医疗, 医疗技术, or prepare the student for further graduate study in biology. 生物学 graduates from 基督教社会联盟 Dominguez Hills have competed successfully for admission to professional and graduate schools in California elsewhere. 学生 also may use the Cellular and Molecular 生物学 Option to prepare for careers in teaching, 研究, 政府, academia or the biotechnology industry. The Ecology and Environmental 生物学 Option will prepare students for 研究生学习 or careers with federal, 状态, 以及当地机构, non-政府 organizations (NGOs), consultants and careers in teaching, 等. 学生 may prepare for a career in teaching at the secondary level (junior high or high school) by completing an approved "Subject Matter Preparation Program". The Master of Science program in 生物学 will provide students with an in-depth background suitable for pursuing a career in biological 研究, teaching or in a related field such as a public health, psychology and human services. 学生 may develop a program of courses and 研究 that is tailor-made to their individual needs within the areas of expertise of their advising faculty. The graduate program also can establish a strong foundation for professional training in medicine, 牙科, paramedical areas and Ph.D. 项目.

The 生物学 Department requires that each semester prior to or during registration, students meet with their biology adviser to review their progress, 选择新课程, update their advisement file (departmental files are maintained for all majors and graduate students), and to discuss any special problems they may have encountered.
